Finally got around to changing the undercoating distribution device oil pan on my 240D.
Degreasing.
Ready for removal. Or close enough.
Surprisingly only one bolt broke. Unsurprisingly, it was because I’m an unobservant idjit. All but two bolts were threaded directly into the block. There were two longer one that extended past the block and had a nut holding on a bracket. Me not realizing there was a nut there under all the grease just kept turning the suspiciously difficult to turn screw. Until there was a snap and a nut fell down from up on high. Luckily the screw still came out fine, I just needed to get another one.
All back together. Hopefully it holds up.

Thanks, I’ll have to order some when I finally get round to tackling the leak.

I just did some work on the 300D, so far no leaks. One leak was the old oil filler cap, I was told the trick is to get a spare fuel filler cap ring and put it right over the top of the old oil seal ring. It has worked so far, snug.

Might have to try that. Mine certainly leaks a bit.
